Artist Statement

Debra McGinniss, who finds inspiration from Wolf Kahn, is an artist in residence at the Lodge at Woodloch where she shares her talents and joys of working with many guests and materials.
Teaching classes in mosaics, watercolor, pen and ink, pastels, and paper marbling, Debra believes not only in the healing power of her craft, but also in her ability to instill a sense of harmony in others. She motivates her students to discover their hidden talents and treasures within.

With her mastery of many different mediums to call upon, Debra is able to manipulate the surface of the canvas to add a twist to the normal. She encourages her art students to see the world as she does, as shapes of color, dimensions of hues and diverse compositions. Like vibrant watercolor paints expanding in a pool of water, her positive energy emanates to all who create in the studio.

With more than 30 years of artistic experience, her versatility is matched only by the number of places her art has taken her. After having been a textile designer in New York for 13 years, Debra helped create an artists' consortium group in Cazenovia, NY. She has been giving private art lessons for a number of years, and has had numerous art gallery showings. In addition, she has also performed live painting demonstrations at charity events including the American Heart Association.
