Artist Statement

Each piece of Laura's work is a study in color theory and composition where music plays a supreme part. Her work pulses with energy as color and lines resound with the jazz she listens to, her paintbrush responding to the music and her environment.
The artist lives part of the year in the Caribbean and the other in North Eastern Pennsylvania where she is enchanted by the forests and lakes. "Out my window are streams with craggy rocks, hemlock forests full of animation and of deep dark green." Even in winter when it can look dismal and so cold there is color everywhere if you look and listen closely. In this latest round of work I have been enjoying changing my color palette over to the upcoming winter. I find my work need not be devoid of color after the leaves have fallen. The elements of her work reverberate and hum with quantum movement.
