Artist Statement

Working in collage binds me to an early love: textiles. In the
beginning, I supported my studio as a textile designer for West Point
Pepperell.

I love old papers- letters, pages of diaries and ledgers, anything with
the mark of a hand. I love the history of printing and old books. These
are things resonant with memory. Working in collage this way, and with
these materials, is an act of remembering. How we remember the past
determines the way we inhabit the present. Forgetting is not an option.

The same design principles apply no matter the medium. Issues of space,
color, tone and texture remain. Think of collage as painting and drawing
by another means.
