Renee Ehrlich Kalfus
Artist Statement
My desire to paint portraits started after a bad ski accident left me house bound for months. Friends visited me and I started taking Polaroids of them. I wanted to capture a moment and a connection with those people.
The landscapes are from trips taken to places like Jamaica, New Foundland, Spain and the desolate early Spring landscape of New York State. Rocks and trees have the same interest for me as do the portraits. I again wish to capture the moment when the light falls a certain way and I connect with the subject.
